Where does your wedding take place?
Your magical moment takes place on our beautiful stretch of white sandy beach, while the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea offer a stunning backdrop.
How many weddings do you host in one day?
One, which would be only yours! In other words, you have our full attention for your entire special day.
Is my wedding legal in the country where I reside?
Yes, your marriage is a legally binding marriage. You should inquire with your local government regarding name change procedures, etc.
When will we receive the marriage certificate?
Usually within 3-4 weeks by mail.
What are the different types of ceremonies available for my wedding?
A non-denominational minister customarily presides over our wedding ceremonies. If you wish to inquire about having a non-religious ceremony (justice of the peace) or a specific type of religious ceremony, please consult with our on-site wedding planner.
What are the requirements for witnesses?
Two witnesses are required for all ceremonies. If you are traveling alone and cannot arrange witnesses, we would be more than willing to assist.
What is the minimum and maximum size of a wedding?
We specialize in small destination weddings from intimate elopements to full-blown weddings up to 45 guests. We can also host slightly larger groups if the entire resort is booked, and we can assist in placing overflow in nearby resorts.
How do I begin to plan my wedding at Portofino Beach Resort Belize?

Who will assist me with my wedding details before I arrive?
At Portofino Beach Resort Belize, our on-site wedding coordinator will gladly assist you with your wedding specifications.
Who will assist me with my wedding once I arrive?
Once you arrive in paradise, our wedding coordinator will welcome you at the resort. Whether you are looking for a private, intimate beachfront wedding ceremony or a family affair, our dedicated on-site wedding planner and creative team will help you plan and coordinate every detail of your beach wedding and turn your dreams into reality.
How much time would we need to reserve our wedding in advance?
Traditionally, couples book their weddings at Portofino Beach Resort Belize a year in advance. However, we can plan a wedding in a relatively short period depending on how elaborate you wish the ceremony to be.
Do you have a wedding or honeymoon suite?
Portofino Beach Resort offers one very special Honeymoon Suite featuring romantic luxury decor including an Emperor bed, special bathroom, and furnishings fit for a King and Queen. Please see our honeymoon package for more information.
We have noticed you have a standard minimum stay requirement during certain periods of the year. Is this a hard and fast rule?
Yes, we are very keen on the minimum stay requirement. Weddings are not available during our peak season (December 22 - January 5).
What time of the day do most weddings occur?
Customarily, ceremonies commence no later than 4:00 pm. This time offers favorable sunlight and temperature, as well as a sunset over the ocean behind our resort. It also allows ample time for cocktails immediately after, followed by dinner at 6:00 pm.
May I marry at Portofino Beach Resort Belize using another wedding planner?
To ensure quality and timeliness, we recommend that all planning be handled by our onsite wedding planner. However, if you choose another wedding planner, you will still be required to pay the basic package fee, and Portofino cannot be held responsible for any setbacks that may occur.
Do you require a down payment? How much and when is the balance due?
Yes, we require a 50% non-refundable deposit to hold your wedding date. The final balance for our services is due 30 days prior to your arrival.
How do I reserve my room at Portofino Beach Resort?
You may reserve through our website using our secure real-time reservation system. To interact with our reservations department, please contact us.
Is there a special room rate for wedding couples?
Throughout the year, Portofino Beach Resort offers special promotional rates. To take advantage of these specials, please contact our reservations department via info@portofinobelize.com.
Is your resort suitable for kids?
The majority of our clientele are couples; however, families are welcome. Please check out the Portofino Beach Front Mansion, which can comfortably accommodate families and large groups up to 10.
Can I add or subtract items and services from your wedding package?
Each wedding at Portofino Beach Resort Belize is exclusive and can be customized to your liking for additional costs. All services must be contracted through our on-site wedding planner to avoid any confusion that could negatively impact the flow of the wedding.
